Detectives are seeking two important witnesses following the discovery of a man’s body in Atherstone. The deceased was located on Monks Park Lane. Emergency services found the individual shortly after 1.30am on Friday, April 3. It is thought that the driver of a vehicle struck him before leaving the scene. Officers are eager to interview the operators of a white van and a red car who were travelling along Monks Park Lane, as they may have observed the incident. Anyone who was in the vicinity between 1.05am and 1.40am and witnessed a man on foot close to Ridge Lane is being urged to contact police. A 23-year-old man from Nuneaton and a 74-year-old man from Shifnal were taken into custody in connection with the April 3 incident. Both individuals have since been released on bail. A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police stated that officers wish to question the drivers of a white van and a red car who were believed to have been on the road at the relevant time, as they could have vital information. Members of the public who travelled along the road between 1.05am and 1.40am or who observed a man walking along the carriageway near Ridge Lane are also requested to make contact. Those with any relevant information can submit details via the force website or by emailing sciu@warwickshire.police.uk, citing incident number 25 of April 3.
