Early morning disruption plagues Coventry high-rise residents

Published on

Difficulties have surfaced at a Coventry tower complex during the small hours, with individuals causing disruption for local residents. The extent of anti-social behaviour led to multiple complaints filed with police. The Foleshill neighbourhood policing unit reported that residents occupying a tower block have experienced anti-social behaviour over recent weeks, with some of these occurrences taking place during the early morning period. The unit added that officers from the Foleshill neighbourhood team have been putting in extra shifts to maintain a presence in the locality during these problematic times.

In response, they introduced several measures to tackle the issue, including the utilisation of stop and search powers. The unit explained that officers conducted targeted patrols throughout the tower block, using their stop and search authority and instructing people who were not residents to depart the premises. They noted that this approach proved successful, with locals indicating approval of the heightened police visibility during the crucial time periods.

The unit has arranged several forthcoming gatherings where community members can raise their concerns and obtain guidance on preventing crime. A gathering is planned for Foleshill Library on April 28 from 5.15pm until 6pm. The following month includes a ‘cuppa with a copper’ session at Foleshill Library between 5.15pm and 6pm, followed by a street briefing at Edgwick Park from 6pm to 7pm on May 15. Another comparable gathering is arranged at Falkner House on May 23 from 6pm until 7pm.
