The ‘extra shop’ that forms part of Nuneaton town centre’s new college campus

Published on

An ‘extra shop’ forms part of the new college campus in Nuneaton town centre.

The North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) Grayson Place campus has the large two storey-building which can be seen protruding above the hoarding on Abbey Street.

It also has the new bistro restaurant, which has been created from an old Co-op department store building, and this can be seen from Queens Road.

But the new campus, which will be NWSLC’s eighth in the region, also has a ‘shop’.

This is next to what will be the entrance to the main college building and was also once part of the old Co-op store.;

It is currently a blank space, with the option for it to be linked to the main building.

The independent ‘shop’ unit on the new college campus site off Abbey Street

During a tour of the whole campus site, CoventryLive was told that a decision on what the independent ‘shop’ unit will be used for has yet to be made.

Marion Plant, OBE, principal and Chief Executive of North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC), said that the whole site posed a ‘once ln a lifetime’ opportunity not just for the college but for the town as a whole.

“We hope this (the campus) is a catalyst for the regeneration of our town,” she said.

“We also hope that it inspires young and adult leaners that they will have access to a campus where they can all thrive.”
