Four establishments in Coventry and Warwickshire are in the running for a prestigious national competition.
The International Asian Restaurant Awards marks its tenth edition this year, seeking to highlight exceptional skill, creativity and ambition across Britain’s Asian dining scene.
The programme encompasses establishments serving Bangladeshi, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Nepalese, Korean, Malaysian, Pan-Asian, Indonesian, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese and Middle-Eastern fare. The 160 candidates were selected through public nominations, with winners determined by a distinguished judging panel.
The regional venues making the cut are:
The Royal Bengal in Earlsdon
Maya Bar and Restaurant in Atherstone
Naya Restaurant in Henley-in-Arden
Paprika Club in Leamington Spa
The victors will be revealed during a ceremony scheduled for September 7 at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel. The event will be presided over by BBC television news presenter Samantha Simmonds, alongside Anisa Khan, proprietor of Bombay Pizza and a former contestant on The Apprentice.
Yawar Khan, Chairman of the Asian Catering Federation, stated that the announcement of this year’s list comes at a time when ANDY BURNHAM is taking up residence at Downing Street. He noted that Manchester embraces global cuisine and is home to some of the finest Asian eateries and takeaways in the nation. As the city’s former Mayor, Mr Burnham fostered growth within this sector, and the 30-plus businesses representing Manchester and Greater Manchester among this year’s nominees reflects that success. He expressed hope that smaller enterprises would continue to receive backing, and that reducing business rates, food costs and reforming the Indefinite Leave to Remain regulations that are constraining the workforce would receive attention from the incoming administration.
