Londis set to open at former Coventry Sainsbury’s petrol station site

Published on

The new shop at a 24 hour petrol station set to open at an old Coventry Sainsbury’s site has been revealed.

The old filling station on land at Austin Drive is set to be demolished and replaced with a new forecourt and shop.

According to a new licensing application, the shop at the station will be a Londis.

Roadside Real Estate PLC has applied to Coventry City Council for a premises licence for a Londis in Austin Drive.

It asks for the go-ahead for the following:

Opening hours and off sales of alcohol 00:00 to 23:59 Monday to Sunday.

Late night refreshment 23:00 to 05:00 Monday to Sunday.

The application is now being considered by the council and people are being given the chance to have their say about it.

The deadline for all comments is August 17 and they can either be sent to the Licensing Team, Coventry City Council, PO Box 7097, Coventry, CV6 9SL or emailed to: licensing@coventry.gov.uk.

The wider site has been vacant since 2023, when the Sainsburys supermarket stopped trading.

The new petrol station is set to have a shop as well as four pumps and jet wash bays.
