Three cars on fire in Coventry as public urged to ‘be mindful’

Published on

Firefighters tackled a major blaze involving three vehicles in Coventry.

It happened on Nunts Lane in Holbrooks at around 9am on Wednesday, July 29.

Crews used hose reel jets to extinguish a fire involving three cars. No injuries were reported.

West Midlands Fire Service said Wednesday was ‘exceptionally busy.’ Firefighters reminded people to be ‘mindful’ and act responsibly when spending time outdoors.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to a fire in Nunts Lane shortly before 9am on Wednesday. Crews extinguished a fire involving three cars and there were no casualties.

“Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Control took nearly 800 emergency calls between 2pm and 10pm on Wednesday, which was exceptionally busy. As the warm, dry conditions continue, we are urging members of the public to be as mindful as possible as we look to prevent further fires outdoors.

“Please do not barbecue at home or in parks or other open spaces. Do not have outdoor fires, whether that is at home, at an allotment, or any other public place.

“If you smoke, discard cigarettes properly. Where possible, use water to extinguish them, and do not dispose of them on the floor or from car windows.”
