Plans for 130 homes have been revealed for Green belt land on Coventry’s doorstep.
A planning application seeks outline planning application with all matters reserved except for access for up to 130 dwellings on land east of Coventry Road in Wolvey.
This also includes new vehicular and pedestrian/cycle accesses from Coventry Road for the proposed site.
It would see the existing buildings on the farm land demolished to pave the way for the development.
Vehicular access is proposed directly via the B4065 Coventry Road, to the west of the site., through a new priority junction.
“Proposals will provide a mixed tenure, varying in type and design, to be determined at reserved matters stage,” the proposal explains
“It is envisaged that the play area to be provided as part of the proposed development would consist of a Locally Equipped Area for Play (LEAP) which would be designed in accordance with national standards and the Council’s specific policies.
“Details are to be determined at reserved matters stage.”
The illustrative masterplan for the development
The application says that public consultation was held prior to the plan being officially submitted to Rugby Borough Council.
This saw objections raised and Wolvey Parish Council has officially objected to the proposal.
Among the reasons why is the fact that the land is currently allocated as green belt and the site is not in the Local plan as allocated for housing.
“Therefore this is classed as speculative development additional to the needs of Wolvey,” the parish council has stated.
The final decision will be made by Rugby Borough Council and all of the proposals can be looked at by visiting the council website and searching for reference R26/0546 in the planning section.
