The safest place in Warwickshire has been revealed in the latest crime stats – and the results might surprise you. While the rural areas of South and North Warwickshire may often assumed to have the lowest crime rates, the latest Home Office statistics show it’s actually Rugby that comes out as safest.
Rugby was in 209th place out of a total of 276 areas of England and Wales which were included in the crime rankings. Or, to put it another way, it’s the 67th safest place in the country.
This part of Warwickshire had a crime rate of 55.1 crimes per 1,000 people. The place which ranked most dangerous in Warwickshire was Nuneaton and Bedworth, which with a crime rate of 81.4 means residents are almost one-and-a-half times as likely to be victim of a crime compared to those in Rugby.
Nuneaton and Bedworth ranked in 97th place in the list of most dangerous places in the country, and crimes have risen slightly (1%) year on year.
North Warwickshire ranked in 175th place with a crime rate of 61.2 while South Warwickshire, which includes Stratford, Leamington and Warwick as well as the rural areas and villages between, was in 199th spot with a crime rate of 56.1.
