A child aged six has died after a road traffic collision in Warwickshire, police have confirmed. The youngster was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a farm tractor.
Emergency services were summoned to Fosse Way close to Moreton Morrell at approximately 5pm on Friday, July 31. Crews from the ambulance service and the air ambulance attended the incident and discovered the girl had sustained severe injuries.
The child had been inside a Volkswagen Tiguan at the time of the collision with the agricultural vehicle and was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The three remaining passengers in the car suffered no injuries.
According to West Midlands Ambulance Service, crews arrived at the scene involving the car and tractor on Fosse Way at Moreton Morrell at 5.01pm on Friday. The girl sustained critical injuries and received advanced trauma treatment before being transferred by air to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. She subsequently passed away at the hospital. Two additional children and an adult female from the same vehicle were examined and taken to hospital for precautionary assessment.
Officers have urged anyone with dashboard camera footage to contact them. Investigators are also hoping to speak with any motorists who were travelling along the B4455 at around 5pm that day.
Warwickshire Police stated that inquiries remain active and they are eager to hear from witnesses or anyone possessing footage of the collision. Those able to assist should reference incident number 331 dated July 31.
