Five individuals have received prison sentences after assaulting a man at a food outlet in Coventry. Mustafa Yassin, Wesley Osunde, Issa Kassim, Tyree Lieng, and Elhoussaine Aboushahba pursued the complainant into the Spice Lounge establishment.

The court at Warwick Crown Court heard that on May 31, 2025, the defendants had been celebrating at a nightclub before Yassin ferried them away in his vehicle. He subsequently exited the car and confronted the victim on Primrose Hill Street in Hillfields.

According to testimony, the group attacked the man before he drew a knife and ran into the Spice Lounge. Kassim and Osunde pinned the victim to the ground.

The court was informed that Kassim and Yassin repeatedly struck the victim with their feet and stamped on him during the assault. It was stated that Osunde participated while attempting to obscure his features from security cameras within the venue.

Aboushahba brandished a knife and repeatedly stamped on and kicked the victim, court proceedings revealed. He momentarily paused after losing a shoe but resumed by striking the victim with his fists multiple times.

CCTV footage captured Lieng kicking and stamping on the victim, and he had previously received a suspended sentence for violent crimes. Yassin, Osunde, Kassim, and Lieng entered guilty pleas to violent disorder and received their sentences on Thursday, July 30.

Lieng, residing at Frankies Lane in Bedworth, was ordered to serve three years and eight months. Kassim, from Lauderdale Avenue in Coventry, was handed a three-year term.

Aboushahba, of Legendary Lane in Coventry, was sentenced to three and a half years in his absence after failing to appear at Thursday’s hearing. Yassin, from Vauxhall Close in Coventry, was sentenced to two years and three months.

Osunde, of Kilby Mews in Coventry, admitted to violent disorder alongside distinct drug-related offences. He was ordered to serve four years.
