Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth is eager to return to Coventry City for what he describes as an incredible Premier League adventure.

The 25-year-old completed his permanent transfer from Brighton on Tuesday, with the fee reported to be £22.5m with potential add-ons reaching £30m. He put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the CBS Arena, which he refers to as his home.

Rushworth was instrumental in helping the Sky Blues clinch the Championship crown last term, keeping 17 clean sheets on his way to securing the golden glove award during Frank Lampard’s side’s impressive promotion push. The stopper has also opened up about his affection for the club.

He said he is really happy, with so many emotions that he has.

He mentioned there is excitement, and that he can finally relax knowing the transfer is done and that he is back with the boys and at a club he loved being at.

He said he is excited to have this new challenge in the Premier League and to be able to call this place home is a big thing he has been looking forward to.

He added that to see the affection from the fans and to know he can now get back to playing in front of them, and to get a few pre-season games in, is really exciting. He cannot wait to experience the atmosphere at their first home game after 25 years of waiting to play in the Premier League. He said it is going to be incredible.

He noted there are too many feelings, too many emotions to put into words but he is ready for the next chapter.
