A popular recreational area has warned guests to exercise greater caution following continued problems stemming from dry conditions.

Kingsbury Water Park in North Warwickshire has posted updates and photographs showing blazes ignited by barbecue use at the venue.

This follows persistent grass fire concerns across the area, mere days after drought conditions were formally announced.

A spokesperson for the park stated that guests should refrain from lighting fires or barbecues on the premises. Staff from the county fire service have been responding to numerous incidents during this prolonged spell of hot, dry weather.

The spokesperson added that visitors could assist emergency responders and safeguard the park by avoiding barbecue use and steering clear of fire risks such as abandoning litter, glass items, or cigarette ends in open areas.

During peak periods, waste containers may reach capacity before staff can empty them. When this occurs, guests are encouraged to remove their own refuse from the site.

The park expressed gratitude to all those assisting the team in maintaining cleanliness or reporting issues.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue echoed these concerns, urging people to remain vigilant when enjoying outdoor spaces including woodlands, parks, meadows, and other rural areas. The service stressed that discarded disposable barbecues and glass containers pose significant fire hazards, capable of igniting flames that rapidly expand and cause extensive harm to ecosystems and animal populations.

The service appealed for collective responsibility to preserve local communities and natural environments throughout the summer months.
