A coordinated effort targeting employment, health guidance and environmental improvements has been unveiled for a local community.
The initiative combines job-seeking assistance, wellness resources and practical measures to enhance neighbourhood appearance while fostering civic pride.
A careers fair titled Job Fest will operate between 1pm and 4pm on Wednesday 16 September.
The venue encompasses North Point Church, Park Edge Community Centre and the Best Start Family Hub situated on Roseberry Avenue.
Community members may attend without appointment, interact with recruitment representatives, submit applications and explore complimentary training schemes, apprenticeship openings and advisory services.
Representatives from multiple regional employers and public bodies will participate.
These include Cadent Gas, NP Aerospace, Coventry City Council, the National Health Service and Warwickshire Police, each showcasing available positions and career pathways.
Specialist advisors in health and wellbeing will simultaneously provide guidance covering lifestyle choices, smoking cessation programmes, counselling options, family medical matters and energy efficiency.
Physical activities are also scheduled.
British Cycling will provide cycling opportunities, while ABC Boxing Club has arranged demonstrations at two separate venues.
Sessions will run from 2pm until 3pm outside North Point Church, then continue between 3pm and 4pm at the Bell Green Working Men’s Club.
Friday 18 September will centre on horticultural and conservation work.
Voluntary participation in planting and cultivation projects is invited between 10am and noon in the green space adjacent to the Family Hub.
Participants can learn seed propagation techniques, design decorative containers and study characteristics of their immediate surroundings.
The morning will also see Coventry’s Streetpride operational team clearing illegally dumped rubbish and tidying highways and footpaths.
An afternoon communal cleanup is planned between 1pm and 3pm, inviting residents to join organised volunteers collecting litter around Riley Square and addressing pollution along specific stretches of the River Sowe.
Councillor Naeem Akhtar, who holds the Housing and Communities portfolio within Coventry’s cabinet, explained that consultation with Bell Green inhabitants earlier in 2020 revealed requests for enhanced employment assistance, greater provision of support services and improvements to environmental conditions.
The programme aims to collaborate with local people in addressing the priorities they identified.
By consolidating access to occupational opportunities, skill development, health promotion and environmental action, organisers hope to strengthen residents’ sense of attachment to their neighbourhood and generate optimism about its direction.
Over the two days, council departments, partner organisations, community groups and individual residents will unite to deliver tangible improvements and demonstrate commitment to Bell Green’s wellbeing.
Comprehensive details regarding both days’ schedules are available through Coventry City Council’s official website.
