Problems with entering and exiting Coventry’s CBS Arena have prompted a series of fresh traffic regulations.
These include implementing a ban on stopping at any time along the whole of Judds Lane and the section of Rowley’s Green Lane running from Jimmy Hill Way (A444) to Judds Lane.
Plans also include establishing a designated zone for buses and coaches alongside a short-stay restricted waiting area to accommodate visitors with mobility difficulties, situated near the venue.
The proposals form part of a fresh traffic order that the local authority has opened for public feedback.
According to the documentation, concerns voiced by the Coventry Building Society Football Stadium about difficulties getting into and out of their car parks have prompted these alterations to traffic control measures. The aim is to enhance safety, support vulnerable road users, and facilitate movement for spectators and conference attendees.
The proposed all-day stopping prohibition would eliminate designated areas for pedestrians to be collected or set down, thereby reducing the presence of vehicles along this stretch whenever matches are taking place at the stadium.
It would also guarantee unimpeded vehicle movement to and from the venue by prohibiting parking and vehicle manoeuvring in the area.
Some sections of Judds Lane currently lack any waiting restrictions, which has attracted drivers to these stretches while seeking kerbside parking spaces. The proposed prohibition would eliminate on-street parking opportunities and consequently reduce traffic along these roads, as there would be no valid reason for vehicles to travel them.
A dedicated parking section for coaches and buses, together with a time-limited waiting bay, would be created to provide adequate facilities for those with reduced mobility, positioned within the vicinity of the stadium.
