Former England manager Sam Allardyce believes Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is destined to become England manager in the future. The ex-West Ham United, Bolton and Sunderland boss doesn’t feel the Sky Blues boss will return to Chelsea any time soon. That’s despite speculation linking the former Blues midfielder with a sensational return to the Stamford Bride dugout. Lampard’s stock is sky high having guided Coventry back to the Premier League by winning the Championship title, a year on from heartbreak in the play-offs. It’s come as no surprise to see the 47-year-old linked with jobs in the top flight, but Allardyce doesn’t feel Lampard would return to Chelsea under the current ownership. FOLLOW ON FACEBOOK! He then returned as interim manager at the end of the 2023 campaign. A year later, Lampard was appointed as Sky Blues boss and has masterminded a brilliant turnaround at the CBS Arena. He’s also made it clear he would not talk about a return to Stamford Bridge earlier this month. He told Sky Sports: “Well I definitely don’t want to talk about Liam and Chelsea because I’ve been there and I never want to talk too much about managers because of context behind the scenes, etc. “I think it’s disrespectful to have a judgement on it. That’s for pundits to have a judgement. I’m Coventry manager, I’m enjoying my moment of us being promoted and winning the title, and that’s it.” Every day, the CoventryLive football desk strive to deliver all manner of news, features and transfer-related stories as a part of our overall package of Coventry City content.
