Tiny newborn kittens discovered inside discarded bag in Atherstone

Workers carrying out grounds maintenance were left surprised to discover a collection of young felines inside a bag at a park located in North Warwickshire. The two employees from North Warwickshire Borough Council were performing their duties at the Royal Meadow Drive Recreational area on Saturday morning when they came across something troubling. Within the bag, they discovered 14 kittens that had been left there, consisting of ten kittens estimated to be around four to five weeks old, along with four newborn kittens whose umbilical cords were still present. The duo, identified simply as David and Carl, responded without delay to ensure the kittens received immediate assistance.

The kittens were initially taken to Carl’s residence before being safely transferred to The Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service in Solihull where they underwent examination and received necessary treatment. “Veterinary staff confirmed that the newborn kittens would require intensive care, including placement in incubators and feeding every three hours,” North Warwickshire Borough Council stated.

The council was prompt in recognizing the efforts of the two workers that Saturday morning. “North Warwickshire Borough Council would like to commend David and Carl for their quick action, professionalism and compassion,” the council expressed. “And to extend thanks to Carl’s family for their immediate support in assisting with the animals prior to veterinary treatment.
