A male sustained injuries during a rush-hour collision involving multiple cars on the M6 in the vicinity of Coventry.

West Midlands Ambulance Service has informed this publication that it received multiple 999 calls reporting the incident on the M6 southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 on the morning of July 7.

Emergency services personnel also attended the location of what has been categorised as a multiple-vehicle crash.

A number of lanes along the affected stretch of motorway were blocked while ambulance crews assessed individuals travelling in the cars involved.

The ambulance service has confirmed that an injured male required transportation to a medical facility for care.

According to a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service, several emergency calls were received regarding a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the M6 between junctions 3 and 2 in Coventry at 7.12am on the specified date. An ambulance and a paramedic officer arrived at the location. One male suffered injuries that were not considered to be severe and received on-site assistance prior to being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. No other individuals needed medical attention.

Two lanes of the motorway stayed shut for approximately two hours, resulting in tailbacks extending six miles as the vehicles were cleared from the highway.

The congestion persisted for a brief period following the reopening of the lanes.
