Coventry city centre has turned a delightful Sky Blue to mark the football club’s return to the Premier League.

In a historic season, Frank Lampard’s men have not only secured promotion, meaning top-flight football for the first time in 25 years, but also won the Championship League title.

It’s been a week of celebrations since Coventry City’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn secured promotion, followed by Tuesday’s 5-1 trouncing of Portsmouth which clinched the title.

The city is now in a jubilant mood, and these images shared with Coventry Live show the celebrations have reached the city centre. Images captured show flags and bunting around the Upper Precinct, Broadgate and the council house.

But it doesn’t stop there. On Bank Holiday Monday (4 May) an open top bus parade will go through the city from the Coventry Building Society Arena to Hearsall Common. There will also be a live music event headlined by The Enemy.

Tickets for the music event are on sale now for season ticket holders, costing £5. They will go on general sale on Wednesday for everyone else costing £10.
