Managers of a leisure facility have provided an explanation for the abrupt closure of Nuneaton’s largest recreation centre.

The Pingles Leisure Centre stayed locked on Wednesday morning (June 2) after shutting its doors unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon (May 1).

A message posted on the venue’s Facebook profile advised visitors to not travel to the location.

CoventryLive approached Everyone Active, the company operating the centre under contract with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, for clarification on the closure and an anticipated reopening date.

According to the company, the facility is experiencing problems with its drainage system, and efforts are underway to address the matter.

Area contract manager Lloyd Barraclough stated that the centre had been temporarily closed because of a drainage problem. He explained that specialists were being consulted to fix the issue, with the intention of resuming operations later that day. The company promised to notify patrons as soon as updates became available and expressed gratitude for their patience.
