After 25 years of wallowing in the football league, Coventry City finally secured promotion back to the Premier League thanks to a 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers. For a week the whole city has been suspended state of celebration, just waiting for the moment we could mathematically start dreaming about next season.
Several thousands of fans privileged to be there on the night at Blackburn Rovers will no doubt be flying the Sky Blue flag in the North West, but tens of thousands more celebrated the momentous occasion right here in the city.
With the city’s pubs and clubs looking resplendent decked out in bunting and flags, families gathering around TVs to soak it in, the entire city is like a Sky Blue haven.
After coming close so promotion in recent years, the whole city can finally celebrate now Frank Lampard and his men have got the job done.
