The teenager at the helm of Warwickshire County Council has selected his father as a candidate for the upcoming local elections. George Finch, who represents Reform UK for Bedworth Central, is seeking the Bede seat on Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, while his father Stuart Finch is putting himself forward for the Stockingford East ward. Both contests are scheduled for next week.

Having risen to prominence as one of the country’s most talked-about local politicians, the younger Finch has frequently spoken about his father’s impact on his life, especially after bonding more closely during his father’s extended recovery from sepsis-related health problems. Prior to his political involvement, the elder Finch held a position as an emergency repairs operative with the borough council.

According to George Finch in his comments to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, his father played an active role during the previous campaign, visiting residents across Kingsbury, Atherstone and Hartshill to discuss local concerns. He explained that his father made the decision to run for office himself, expressing particular enthusiasm for apprenticeship initiatives in Stockingford, an area lacking educational facilities. George noted that Stockingford has been neglected for some time, and having a dedicated borough councillor present in the community has been valuable for residents there. He mentioned that the experience has brought back memories for his father, with many locals still recognising him from his previous work. His father is working diligently alongside all other candidates, and George extended his best wishes to everyone involved.

George also shared that his father’s health has improved considerably thanks to new medical treatments. He revealed that Stuart had been well enough to stand for election a year earlier during the county council vote but chose to focus on his recovery first. The elder Finch actively supports raising awareness about sepsis, which now features on ambulance vehicles, helping people recognise the condition. His physical condition has shown marked improvement from previous levels. George expressed confidence that his father would serve Stockingford East residents faithfully, sharing George’s belief that constituents are his priority.

For the Bede ward, George Finch is competing against Steve Coleman representing the Local Conservatives and Ivy Winters from Labour. In Stockingford East, Stuart Finch faces competition from Sebastian Gran of the Conservatives, Matthew Smith from Labour, Spring Vernon of the Green Party, and Daniel Webb of the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition.
