Severn Trent has provided an update regarding repair work on a primary route through Nuneaton that has experienced disruption from motorists attempting to bypass the closure.
The utility company has announced that workers will attend the Arbury Road location on July 29 to carry out surface treatment on a portion of the road.
A substantial cavity in a segment of the main thoroughfare has now been backfilled and partial resurfacing has been completed, however the carriageway continues to remain out of bounds to traffic.
The company has indicated that the expectation is for the restriction to be removed once the construction activities are finished.
The traffic restrictions and barriers positioned around the void have provoked considerable frustration among local residents.
locals report that vehicles have been repositioning the closure barriers to enable them to drive onto the footway to continue their journey.
Some individuals state that they faced verbal abuse from drivers when attempting to reposition the barriers to their proper location.
The void has now been substantially filled in but a section of Arbury Road still requires attention before it can be formally reopened to traffic.
The restriction has placed additional strain on the surrounding highway network, affecting Westbury Road and Haunchwood Road, with bus services having to operate along alternative routes.
Concerns regarding the hazardous manoeuvring have been forwarded to the authorities and a representative from Warwickshire Police encouraged community members to share documentation of any traffic violations.
A force representative stated that local officers are cognisant of the situation and will be carrying out focused patrols in the area.
The representative added that anyone possessing footage or evidence of these offences should submit it through the Operation Snap portal on the Warwickshire Police website.
