A company based in Nuneaton has secured an agreement with Deliveroo and is now targeting expansion across Europe.
Eskuta, located at Bermuda Park Industrial Estate, reached the deal with the delivery platform to provide its SX-250 electric bicycles.
This represents the most recent significant delivery contract secured by the business as it introduces a fresh payment system aimed at improving accessibility for riders.
The buy now, pay later scheme offered through a finance company has resulted in a 20 percent rise in sales, as customers benefit from more adaptable payment methods.
Eskuta’s flagship electric bike, the SX-250, meets all British electric bicycle regulations, allowing riders to use it legally without facing fines, a matter that has grown increasingly important throughout the sector.
The company now sees the European market, which operates under comparable electric bicycle legislation to Britain, as a fresh avenue for growth.
Ian O’Connor, chief executive and founder of Eskuta, explained that there is a genuine sense of market transformation occurring, and considerable effort has gone into ensuring the company adapts appropriately. The priority involves offering riders something dependable that they feel comfortable using daily.
Witnessing the company’s bicycles on the roads with brands such as Deliveroo and Just Eat brings considerable pride. These companies faced scrutiny to demonstrate their riders were using safe bicycles, and they selected the SX-250 to fulfill that requirement.
The introduction of flexible payment options has proven transformative, enabling individuals who may have previously been excluded to begin riding and earning a living.
The local business received guidance from Business Ready, a fully-funded business support programme operated by the University of Warwick Science Park and financed by Warwickshire County Council.
Access to Ian through Business Ready has significantly streamlined the process. His insights on the most effective approaches to winning such contracts and implementing the new payment solution have proven invaluable, according to those involved.
Eskuta now intends to establish a partnership with a European business capable of servicing and repairing bicycles to the same standards maintained in Britain before proceeding with an EU launch.
The founder expressed enthusiasm about future possibilities, noting substantial opportunities exist beyond Britain, though the approach must be considered carefully.
The focus remains on identifying appropriate partners and guaranteeing that wherever the bicycles are utilized, they provide the same level of quality and dependability that customers anticipate from Eskuta. This approach will prove decisive during the next phase of development.
