Multiple positions available as Popeyes prepares to launch in Coventry city centre

A fresh chicken restaurant is set to launch in Coventry this month, bringing dozens of employment opportunities to the area.

The former Top Shop premises on Broadgate will be transformed into a Popeyes branch. The American fried chicken company has announced the new location will welcome customers on Friday 24 July.

Fifty-three positions have been established, ranging from crew staff to supervisory roles and management posts.

This marks the second Popeyes restaurant in the city following the popular launch of the first outlet at the Arena Shopping Park last year.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes UK’s chief executive, commented that since launching their initial Coventry restaurant, the response had been phenomenal and they were certain they needed to establish another outlet in the central shopping district.

He added that the company anticipates strong attendance on opening day with the distinctive atmosphere, music and welcoming service that customers have come to expect. The team expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming launch.

Established in New Orleans in 1972, Popeyes has grown into one of the world’s biggest chicken restaurant chains, operating over 4,000 locations worldwide.

Since arriving in Britain in 2021, the chain has launched more than 100 UK branches, including 45 that opened in 2025, and now employs over 3,500 people.

The latest venue will occupy 54–56 Broadgate, Coventry, CV1 1NF and will generate 53 local jobs. The design will feature indoor dining areas, self-order terminals and takeaway counters.
