A multi-academy trust serving Coventry and Warwickshire has opened its new central office at Finham Park 2 school after receiving a significant investment from the local authority.

Finham Park Multi Academy Trust brought together staff from its eight schools, council officials and the building team to celebrate the completion of the £3.5 million project.

The scheme was constructed by Deeley Construction on behalf of Coventry City Council. The work also included new outdoor sports areas and the transformation of current office accommodation into additional teaching spaces at Finham Park 2.

The 8,535 square foot headquarters for the academy trust will accommodate the Trust’s central services personnel and comprises 14 offices and meeting rooms for teaching and support workers.

The development also includes refreshed parking provision with five electric vehicle charging points, plus 60 solar panels fitted to the roof to provide a renewable energy supply for the school.

Deeley Construction employed an offsite building approach for the new headquarters, working alongside fellow Coventry business Innovare to create a sustainable timber frame structure.

Relocating staff offices has enabled the creation of five additional classrooms, raising the school’s published admission limit by 30 students and allowing the school to cater for up to 900 pupils by September 2028.

Pupils are also now enjoying access to a second multi-use games area for outdoor activities and physical education.

Representatives from Finham Park MAT, Deeley Construction and Coventry City Council were present at the ceremony to mark the official opening.

Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Coventry City Council, stated that seeing the new headquarters and broader improvements at Finham Park 2 completed was excellent. This funding aims to help schools expand and ensure more children and young people in Coventry can access quality learning environments.

By collaborating closely with Finham Park Multi Academy Trust and project partners, additional classroom space, contemporary facilities for staff and better sports provision for students had been created. This demonstrated strong partnership working to support education and opportunities for young people across the city.

Mark Baillie, Executive Headteacher at Finham Park Multi Academy Trust, said the trust was pleased that Finham Park 2 school continues to develop and that by working alongside Coventry City Council, more places for more children in this area of the city had been provided.

As part of this expansion, the Trust central team has moved into this new building, which would help deliver top-quality support, improving education and aiming to provide outstanding experiences for all children and families served.

The trust expressed sincere gratitude to Coventry City Council for funding the scheme and to Deeley Construction for constructing such an impressive building. Alongside offices, training spaces would also be offered to all their schools and partners, bringing everyone together for the benefit of all children across their primary and secondary schools.

Coventry-based Deeley Construction delivered social value equivalent to 31.2 per cent of the project’s overall value by employing local full-time workers, investing in supply chain businesses with Coventry postcodes and supporting community projects, among other initiatives.

The company also achieved a flawless 45 out of 45 score under the Considerate Constructors Scheme throughout the development, showing excellent standards in site management and engagement with the local community near the school.

The site has also been nominated for a national Considerate Constructor award. Martin Gallagher, Managing Director of Deeley Construction, noted this was their second project at Finham Park 2 in recent years and they were proud to continue supporting its growth. With a long history spanning 90 years of building educational facilities across Coventry, the company understands how vital it is to create spaces that work well for both staff and students. It was wonderful to see the space now occupied and supporting both the Trust’s central team and the school’s expansion.
