Coventry’s George Finch Recognised in Sunday Times Young Power List 2026

Published on

Warwickshire County Council’s Reform group leader George Finch has earned recognition on The Sunday Times Young Power List 2026. The confirmation arrived on April 17, marking the 19-year-old’s inclusion among 30 chosen individuals. He joins recording artist Raye and Arsenal and England striker Alessia Russo in a collection termed 30 exceptional young people under the age of 30. The Sunday Times listing highlights that the Bedworth central ward county councillor accomplished a record-breaking achievement by becoming the youngest council leader ever appointed in the United Kingdom, taking charge of Warwickshire County Council along with its £500 million budget. The publication observed that Finch has developed into a significant young voice in politics. He held membership with the Conservative Party before switching to Reform ahead of the 2024 general election. His leadership recently underwent scrutiny, and last month he only just managed to avoid being ousted through a confidence motion. Hannah Swerling, commissioning editor at The Sunday Times, stated that a fresh generation of British talent is redefining what success looks like. The Young Power List honorees are pushing for social change, building thriving businesses, setting sporting records, and achieving global recognition. All 30 individuals represent the forefront of a new era of British achievement. The full Young Power List and Finch’s interview are available on the internet. County councillor George Finch is contesting the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council elections as a Reform UK candidate. Other aspirants for the Bedworth Bede seat include Steve Coleman for the Local Conservatives and Ivy Winters for the Labour Party.
