A celebration took place in Coventry on Monday 14 September as the local Hindu community gathered for Shree Ganesh Mahotsav 2026.
The event was arranged by the Shree Varashidhi Vinayaka Friend’s Circle.
The programme included Ganesh Maha Pooja ceremonies alongside conventional prayers, with an Annadhanam free vegetarian feast served afterwards.
Attendees also participated in community activities and devotional singing performances.
The festivities concluded with a Ganesh Nimarjan procession departing from Lower Ford Street.
Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Naeem Akhtar, offered remarks about the occasion.
Cllr Akhtar stated that Coventry took pride in its multicultural character and welcomed communities coming together to honour their heritage, customs and spiritual practices.
He expressed that it was encouraging to observe residents uniting for Ganesh Puja and involving the broader neighbourhood in the observance.
He extended warm wishes for a joyful and serene Ganesh Mahotsav to all participants.
Those responsible for arranging the event had stewarding personnel, medical assistance and crowd control measures prepared in advance.
A priority was placed on ensuring the gathering remained both secure and dignified throughout.
