A former medical practice in Coventry may be transformed into residential apartments. The property located on Barlea Lea in Stoke Aldermoor operated as a general practitioner facility for many years.

The premises have not functioned as a surgery for an extended period, and developers are now proposing six one-bedroom apartments for the site. Proposals appeared on the Coventry City Planning Portal this week after consent was awarded subject to certain requirements.

This follows an earlier initiative to convert the structure into a community hub, which was rejected amid opposition from local residents. Fresh ownership was acquired earlier this current year through an auction, with plans subsequently drawn up for a fresh submission.

The current submission documentation outlines that the proposal involves converting the property to create six one-bedroom flats with a two-storey extension, along with associated parking, amenity space, landscaping, and new railings to the front boundary.

According to the scheme, the property has served residential needs since 2012, with the medical practice having closed in 2000.

Communications between planning officials and the representative handling the project suggest all parties have accepted the imposed conditions, indicating construction could commence shortly.
