The new financial year begins on April 1, bringing with it a rise in council tax payments.
As previously covered by CoventryLive, residents across the city will see their council tax increase by 3.9%. This decision was made following approval at a full council gathering earlier this year.
This particular increase applies solely to the portion retained by the city council, which constitutes the majority of the overall council tax bill.
The Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands has implemented a 6.5% increase to their portion, while the West Midlands Fire Authority has raised theirs by 6.2%. This brings the total increase for the complete council tax bill to 4.3%.
What does this translate to for your annual payment?
Those residing in Band D properties will face a total council tax bill of £2,516 for the upcoming financial year. This breaks down as £2,186 for the city council, £244.50 for the Police and Crime Commissioner, and £85.19 for the Fire Authority.
Residents in Allesley, Finham and Keresley should note that additional charges apply, as these areas have parish councils that impose their own precept.
