Plans have been submitted to convert a former digital art gallery into a soft play facility in Coventry. Families could enjoy a range of supervised play areas and a café if the proposal is approved.
Playdate @ Bambinos, based in London, has applied to take over the Reel Store on Corporation Street. It forms part of the Telegraph Hotel building.
Proposals show that Playdate @ Bambinos would offer indoor activities for kids, café facilities for accompanying adults and pre-booked party sessions. Safety flooring would also be installed.
Children could also enjoy a range of role-play houses, a mini carousel and a climbing frame if the plans are approved. It would also have a sensory play area, a party room and a dedicated play zone for under-2s.
It would be called Playdate @ Bambinos(Image: Maria Sbytova)
Plans show that Playdate @ Bambinos would open from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Sunday. It would create a total of eight jobs.
Held under a long lease from Coventry City Council, the building has been empty since May 2023. It previously housed the Reel Store, the first permanent immersive digital art gallery in the UK.
Opened as part of Coventry being named UK City of Culture, the gallery showcased 360-degree digital exhibitions using projection mapping and AI. Works featured included Machine Memoirs: Space by Refik Anadol.
