A large parking facility in Coventry’s downtown area featuring more than one thousand spaces will shut down this week following the administrator appointment for its operator. The National Car Parks location at Belgrade Plaza will cease operations beginning Thursday evening (April 16). The parking industry leader entered administration during the previous month, with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) assuming control of the insolvency proceedings. This particular parking structure had been identified among facilities potentially at risk, though it was not part of the initial round of closures that occurred on March 27. The extensive parking site will now shut down after PWC classified it as unprofitable.
PWC’s online statement indicated: “Since our appointment, the Company has continued to trade as normal while undertaking an assessment of the options for the business.” The statement further explained: “Following the closure of 20 commercially unviable sites on 27 March 2026, it has not been possible to reach agreements to enable the continued operation of a further four loss-making sites, and as a result the following car parks will close at 23.59 Thursday 16 April. Belfast Dublin Road, Coventry Belgrade Plaza, Leicester St Nicholas Circle and Sheffield Blonk Street.”
On Tuesday, April 14, the Belgrade Theatre notified patrons about the impending closure and recommended that event attendees explore other parking options. A message posted on the theatre’s social media platforms stated: “Following National Car Parks (NCP) going into administration, NCP Belgrade Plaza Car Park is permanently closing from Thursday 16 Apr 2026.” The post continued: “The Belgrade Theatre has no affiliation with the NCP Car Park, and we have no control over this closure. Alternative car park suggestions can be found on the Coventry City Council website.” The theatre added: “These are likely to become busy before and after performances. Please factor this in when planning your trip to and from the Belgrade. We endeavour to support our audiences where we can in making the parking experience easier.
