A popular Coventry bakery run by passionate Coventry City supporters is creating football-inspired sweet treats to celebrate the club’s anticipated elevation to the top flight. Stoke Bakery has served the local community for 50 years, having been handed down through successive family members. The present proprietor, Megan, has not only taken over the business and a love of baking, but also shares an enthusiasm for the club nicknamed the Sky Blues.
To commemorate what has been an exciting period for the city, the establishment is marking Coventry’s anticipated return to the Premier League with an assortment of top-tier delicacies. These feature gingerbread figures designed to resemble Coventry City players, alongside various Sky Blue-coloured cakes, buns and cookies.
Megan explained that she aimed to add an entertaining element to their product range. She devised the concept of Coventry City FC gingerbread character heads to appeal to younger customers and allow them the chance to visit the shop and select their favourite player. Customers can also choose a complete starting eleven set to assemble their ideal squad. The selection continues to expand with cupcakes, gateaux, biscuits and additional items becoming available. She expressed that the significance for the local community cannot be adequately described, noting that the premises are filled with excitement and optimism. The team has worked tremendously hard, and for Coventry City to finally achieve this return would mean everything to the city. While they have narrowly missed out previously, this time they feel prepared and determined. Stoke Bakery is honoured to be part of the Sky Blue supporter base.
The business can be found on Bulls Head Lane and maintains a presence across social media platforms.
