A lightning strike caused a tree to fall close to an educational institution in the Coventry area. Witnesses were astonished to observe a substantial tree blocking Athol Road in the vicinity of Walsgrave C of E Primary school during the afternoon of April 15. A brief severe weather event struck the locality featuring thunderclaps, electrical discharges, torrential rainfall and even small hail. The lightning strike struck the large tree, propelling it onto the roadway. According to the most recent local Met Office projection for our region, April 16 is not anticipated to be as severe. Rain showers are expected alongside some strengthening winds, with further heavy rainfall also predicted for April 17. However, the weekend is forecasted to bring drier conditions and may even feel warm, according to the prediction. Today will see a dry and bright morning with sunny periods. Skies will gradually become overcast this afternoon with some intermittent rain arriving later. Temperatures will be near average with gentler breezes. Highest temperature 15C.
