Frank Lampard makes two changes and formation switch as Coventry Cty face Blackburn

Published on

Frank Lampard has made two changes and a formation switch as Coventry City go in search of one more point to confirm the club’s automatic promotion. In comes centre-half Bobby Thomas to make up a back three while Ellis Simms is a straight swap for Haji Wright up top as the Sky Blues take on relegation battling Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Carl Rushworth continues in goal behind a defence that sees Thomas return to the starting line-up with Joel Latibeaudiere and Liam Kitching either side and Milan van Ewijk and Jay Dasilva operating as wing-backs. Frank Onyeka and Matt Grimes again occupy the holding midfield roles while Jack Rudoni and Ephron Mason-Clark are expected to be deployed wide of a forward line in a 3-4-3 system on the attack that sees Simms lead the line. Brandon Thomas-Asante drops out of the starting line-up to take a place on the bench on a night when Tatsuhiro Sakamoto sits out for a second consecutive game with a rib injury. Romain Esse and Wright offer additional attacking back-up among the subs. City: Carl Rushworth; Joel Latibeaudiere, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching; Milan van Ewijk, Frank Onyeka, Matt Grimes, Jay Dasilva; Jack Rudoni, Ellis Simms, Ephron Mason-Clark. Subs: Ben Wilson (GK), Luke Woolfenden, Jake Bidwell, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Josh Eccles, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Victor Torp, Haji wright, Romain Esse.
