An astonishing quantity of 25 tonnes of refuse was discovered along the A46 road linking Coventry and Stratford. This emerged following an extensive cleanup operation covering an 18-kilometre section of the route, encompassing the rest areas and middle of the road. Workers collected a substantial 25 tonnes of rubbish, including old tyres, vehicle seats and wooden pallets. Additionally, they removed more than 15,000 kilograms of accumulated material such as fallen leaves, soil and road dust. The operation employed a mobile lane closure system to manage traffic flow around the work zone and continued throughout nocturnal hours to clear away discarded materials like glass bottles, packaging wrappers and other abandoned objects.

The initiative was coordinated by Warwick District Council, with councillor Will Roberts, the portfolio holder responsible for local neighbourhoods, expressing strong disapproval of those responsible for generating this astonishing volume of waste. He offered appreciation to the dedicated idverde workforce for their efforts in challenging and dangerous conditions to sanitise the A46 corridor, acknowledging their ongoing commitment to maintaining cleanliness across the district. He noted that this quantity of abandoned waste along a high-speed, heavily trafficked route represented a truly staggering and completely unacceptable situation that presented potential dangers to both motorists and local wildlife. He emphasised that if an individual had brought an item into their vehicle, they should simply transport it home after use, describing this as a straightforward solution.
