Frank Lampard has put his Coventry City contract negotiations firmly in owner Doug King’s court after leading the club to the Championship title. The Sky Blues chalked up their 17th league win at the CBS Arena, beating play-off battlers Wrexham 3-1 before being presented with the Champions trophy on an incredible day of promotion celebrations. Another three points takes City’s total to 92, a whopping 12 clear of second and third placed Ipswich Town and Millwall with one more game to go, away to Watford. FOLLOW ON FACEBOOK! Get more Coventry City news and analysis via our FB page Asked in his post-match press conference following the festivities on the pitch if his own contract situation is going to be addressed very soon, the City boss said: “It’s not for me. It’s for Doug to address that. “I said there’s a lot of conversations to be had in the coming weeks, maybe that’ll be one of them. But it’s not for me to say. “All I have to do is work as hard as I work. I’ve got one more game to do it and then I’m desperate for a holiday and then there’s some things that are out of your control but I enjoy my work. I’m enjoying it at the minute and if there’s a conversation, there’s a conversation.” Lampard was given a two and a half year deal when he took over Mark Robins in November 2024 and now has a year left. The 47-year-old has been a resounding success, getting the team to the play-offs in his first few months in charge and then going one better with automatic promotion and winning the league 12 months later. His managerial success means he will be linked with pretty much every Premier League vacancy going as and when they occur but King will surely want to tie Lampard down to a new and improved deal.
