A man from Coventry has been sentenced to prison after carrying out a sustained campaign of violence against his former partner. Callum Lovatt, aged 24, carried out three attacks on his ex-girlfriend spanning an eight-month period from December 2024 to August 2025. During the last incident, Lovatt headbutted the victim with such force that she sustained a concussion, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was told. Lovatt, from Hamilton Road in Coventry, received a two-year prison term at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, April 21. He had previously admitted to two counts of assault by beating and three charges of assault causing actual bodily harm. PC Lauren Taylor of Staffordshire Police stated that addressing violence against women and girls remained a key priority for the force, with efforts focused on changing behaviour and identifying perpetrators. She expressed satisfaction that the victim had received justice, noting her bravery throughout the investigation and legal proceedings.
