Coventry City Football Club has addressed growing concerns from fans about the arrangements for the ‘We Are Back Live’ Bank Holiday Monday festivities. The club has issued an official statement regarding the logistics of this significant promotional event.
Supporters have raised several points of contention: the chosen route for the bus convoy reportedly bypasses the main city centre, with claims that particular urban districts are being excluded. Questions have also emerged about why admission to War Memorial Park closes at 3pm with no entry permitted after that time.
In their detailed reply, the club explained the reasoning behind the specific itinerary and justified the park admission cutoff. The programme will feature performances from the Sky Blues playing squad alongside acts by The Enemy and Tom Grennan.
The club’s communication stated that the route was specifically designed to travel through residential communities, including areas with dedicated followers who have never previously had such an event organised in their direct vicinity, creating a closer bond between the club and its core supporters.
While the club acknowledged that some backers would have preferred a route through the town centre, health and safety regulations make this impossible.
The convoy will pass pubs, community facilities, and domestic streets, offering multiple opportunities for supporters to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the occasion together. Whether watching from your doorstep, a local public house, or lining the streets with family members, this belongs to you.
Concerning the park and entry time matters, the club explained that they wanted fans to join the procession and subsequently attend the special WE ARE BACK: LIVE event at War Memorial Park, and those possessing tickets for both components should join the initial portions of the route to allow adequate time to arrive at the park before the stated 3pm cutoff.
The convoy vehicles will set off from Coventry Building Society Arena at 1pm. Although supporters may gather outside the arena in Car Lot B, attendees are encouraged to position themselves along the community route rather than at the arena. No vehicle parking will be available at the arena for any visitors, and no refreshments will be on sale.
The club additionally released the anticipated timeline for the convoy: departure from Coventry Building Society Arena at 1pm, travelling south along Jimmy Hill Way towards Holbrook Way, then onto Holbrook Lane (approximately 1:20pm), continuing onto Parkgate Road and Beake Avenue (approximately 1:45pm), proceeding down Beake Avenue via Bruce Road towards Wallace Road (approximately 2:05pm), onto Norman Place Road and turning onto Hollyfast Road (approximately 2:20pm), heading towards Westhill Road, down Barkers Butts Lane (approximately 2:30pm), then onto Moseley Avenue, crossing Holyhead Road (approximately 2:45pm), continuing along Four Pounds Avenue and Queensland Avenue (just before 3pm), with the public procession concluding at Hearsall Common (approximately 3:05pm).
Officials stressed that the buses would not stop at Hearsall Common nor enter any field locations.
The club confirmed that players and staff would have a brief private interval before heading to War Memorial Park for celebrations commencing at 4pm. The section between Hearsall Common and War Memorial Park does not form part of the public procession, with supporters unable to travel this portion.
Routes into the central area including Jimmy Hill Way, Foleshill Road, and Radford Road all sit near early sections of the itinerary and remain open throughout the day. As previously indicated, the procession route requires several temporary road closures alongside parking restrictions. The club advised that once the parade has safely passed through, roads along the path will return to normal public use, allowing supporters to continue to the park for celebrations.
