A proposal has been submitted requesting permission for approximately 200 homes in a Solihull settlement. As previously reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, if planning permission is granted in Tidbury Green, this would represent a considerable increase from the village’s current population of around 1,000 residents. Bloor Homes lodged its application with Solihull Council on April 20 seeking outline consent for the homes located close to Tilehouse Lane. Planning agents stated in documentation quoted by Birmingham Live that the site is positioned to the north of Dickens Heath Road. According to the submission, the land directly borders Tidbury Green’s village boundary, which contains facilities including a primary school and village hall. The site extends across 14.80 hectares (36.57 acres) of agricultural land. The agents say a framework masterplan has been created for reference, although it has not yet been formally submitted for approval. The scheme includes up to 190 properties comprising 95 affordable homes, a fresh access point from Tilehouse Lane, new walking and cycling routes throughout the estate, children’s play facilities, a community orchard and growing plots. The agents added that the suggested development would provide significant benefits that support the case for grey belt construction at this site. Local residents and other parties are being given the chance to share their views on the proposals during a current consultation exercise.
