Condolences have been flooding in for a Coventry entrepreneur whose fleet of coaches has become an iconic sight throughout the city. Terry’s Coaches has served as a familiar mode of transport in Coventry since 1975, appearing in the background of school excursions, family outings and even matrimonial festivities. The founder of the company, Terence Colin Hall, passed away last month at the age of 79. Heartfelt commemorations have been shared as residents recall the role his enterprise played in their lives. Mr Hall established the company with a single vehicle more than five decades ago and, remarkably, continued to drive regularly until December 2025. His relatives have confirmed they will maintain the business in Exhall in line with Mr Hall’s wishes. His memorial service took place on April 29 at Canley Crematorium.

According to a message posted on the Bus and Coach Operators Facebook page, Terry was lost on 15 April 2026 following a short illness at the age of 79. The post noted that Terry started with one coach in September 1975 and weathered the many highs and lows of operating a coach business for some 50+ years, and was still driving most days until mid December 2025. The family will be continuing as per his wishes as Terrys Coaches Ltd with the same fleet of MAN Neoplan and Vanhool coaches from the same operating base in Coventry, upholding the values and standards he insisted upon. An online commemoration page has been established and contributions are being collected for Dogs Trust.
