Published on

A 30-year-old man from Rugby has been handed a significant custodial sentence for sexually assaulting a woman in an isolated parking area in Warwick. Connor Ratcliffe targeted his female victim, who was in her twenties, as she was out in the Warwick area. Throughout the night he administered both intoxicating substances and narcotics to her. The presiding judge stated that Ratcliffe had carried out what amounted to a series of predatory actions culminating in the assault in the car park. In addition to the sexual offence, he faced charges related to distributing cocaine, a class A controlled substance. At Coventry Crown Court on April 23rd, the defendant received a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for rape alongside a concurrent six-month term for the drug supply conviction. He must also register as a sex offender indefinitely. DC Sacha Bury noted the significant psychological harm suffered by the complainant, acknowledging her remarkable courage throughout the legal process. She expressed hope that the defendant’s incarceration might offer some solace to the victim. Authorities are urging any additional sufferers of sexual crimes to contact specially trained officers to report what they have experienced.
