Locals pinpoint Coventry streets crying out for a clean-up

Residents taking pride in their neighbourhood is always commendable, which is why an initiative to remove chewing gum from Coventry’s pavements was well-received this week.

The scheme will focus on four districts – Ball Hill, Jubilee Crescent, Jardine Crescent and Earlsdon – with a budget of £24,000 allocated for the work.

While officials have already selected the areas slated for treatment, locals have been sharing their views on which locations require the most urgent attention.

Many readers have voiced opinions about the grimiest thoroughfares in the city.

Louise Kelly expressed the view that Swanswell Park deserves more frequent maintenance.

Ju Ju Anne supported the decision to include Ball Hill among the chosen zones, while Natalie Kavanagh raised concerns about the accumulated litter and cigarette butts covering walkways in Hillfields, Ball Hill, Coundon and various peripheral areas near the city centre.

Maureen Jones remarked that the problem exists throughout the area, adding that she becomes frustrated when spotting it in Foleshill.

Sarah-Louise Hardie noted that the pavement along Spon Street is in a disgusting state.

Numerous contributors expressed frustration with those responsible for dropping litter. Iveta Ali commented that she finds it remarkable that certain individuals require reminders about proper waste disposal.
