Police have issued an update into a rape investigation in Nuneaton.
Officers cordoned off part of Queens Road after a woman aged in her 20s reported she had been raped during the early hours of Sunday morning (July 5).
A section of the main road , between part of Johnson’s Jewellers down to the African supermarket, was taped off with a police car on guard around the scene.
Warwickshire Police yesterday (July 6) confirmed that a man, who has not been identified but is aged 27 and from Oxfordshire, had been arrested on suspicion of rape.
He was take into police custody for questioning.
The force has today (July 7) said that he has been released on police bail.

Investigations are ongoing and officers want to hear from anyone who was in the area at around 3am on Sunday morning
The police appeal reads: “We’re asking anyone who saw what happened, who witnessed anything suspicious or concerning to speak with our officers or report it online: www.warwickshire.police.uk/report
“If you can help, please quote incident number 49 of 5 July.”
The force said that the woman was being supported by specially trained officers.
