A weather system named Storm Dave is forecast to sweep across Coventry and Warwickshire with gusts reaching 46 miles per hour over the weekend. The meteorological agency has designated the approaching low-pressure area, scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on Saturday the fourth of April, as Storm Dave.
The system will deliver potent winds to the majority of northern Britain alongside snowfall in certain Scottish regions. Multiple weather alerts have been issued as a result.
Although no warnings are currently in effect for the local area, local forecasts indicate winds will peak at 46 miles per hour Saturday evening, specifically around 11 o’clock at night.
The windy conditions will commence much earlier on Saturday afternoon, with speeds of approximately 43 miles per hour around 4pm.
The wind gusts will intensify as Saturday evening progresses and stay elevated until the start of Easter Sunday, decreasing to roughly 31 miles per hour by 4am.
Once Easter Sunday arrives, the gusts are expected to diminish, though they will still hover near 30 miles per hour during the afternoon hours between 10am and 3pm.
These conditions are not expected to persist through Easter Monday, as milder temperatures are predicted.
Met Office Statement on Storm Dave
In a release, Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree commented: “Storm Dave will develop and intensify quickly on Saturday as it moves toward the United Kingdom from the west. By Saturday afternoon, winds will increase considerably, with gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour anticipated at points across Scotland and possibly reaching 80 to 90 miles per hour in vulnerable coastal areas of Scotland. Gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour are probable across broader areas of northern Britain.
Beyond the forceful winds, Storm Dave will also produce substantial snow accumulation over elevated terrain in northern Scotland, where 10 to 20 centimeters of snow may settle. Combined with the strong winds, this will generate blizzard conditions. Other areas will experience heavy rainfall as the system progresses eastward across the country. Since Storm Dave is still several days away, individuals should ready their homes for the intense winds and stay informed with the latest forecast, as weather warnings are expected to be revised.
