Update on man arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after crash in Coventry

Police have bailed a man who was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving in Coventry. He was detained following a two-car crash near the CBS Arena.

Officers were called to Winding House Lane at approximately 3pm on Saturday (March 28). Firefighters were also sent to the scene and found that a Jaguar I-Pace and a Mercedes had crashed at the junction of Hen Lane.

Cops arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of drug-driving. He was taken into custody for questioning but was later released on bail, said West Midlands Police.

In a statement to CoventryLive, West Midlands Police said: “A 50-year-old man arrested on suspicion of drug-driving has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to the junction of Winding House Lane and Hen Lane in Coventry shortly before 3.30pm on Saturday (March 28).

“Crews from Foleshill attended, arriving within three minutes of being mobilised. It was a collision between two cars on the road.

“Paramedics attended to assess casualties. We left this incident at 4.07pm, with West Midlands Police colleagues still in attendance.”
