Railway officials have indicated they are looking at introducing additional train services on the line that serves Coventry City FC home games at the Coventry Building Society Arena. The club’s promotion to the Premier League is expected to attract huge crowds to the stadium throughout next season. While trains do currently stop at the arena on matchdays, supporters have repeatedly called for increased frequency, longer carriages, and better reliability. Sky Blues owner Doug King previously expressed hope that achieving promotion would strengthen arguments for significantly better rail services to the venue. CoventryLive reached out to West Midlands Railway to query whether enhanced services could be introduced given the club’s upcoming top-flight campaign. A spokesperson for the company stated that this season additional matchday trains have been brought in on routes to and from Coventry Arena, allowing thousands more fans to attend matches using public transport. These well-used additional services will continue operating next season. The company is also engaged with partner organisations to investigate further improvements to the route while making optimal use of existing rail capacity.
