A venue in the Coventry and Warwickshire area has brought back an inventive fusion of two cherished British customs with the springtime return of its Sunday Roast themed afternoon tea experience.

This particular afternoon tea arrangement first appeared in 2024 and, after attracting approximately 800 guests, is making its comeback at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Brinklow on Sunday, April 5. The hotel falls under the management of No Ordinary Hospitality.

This attractive pairing will be available every Sunday in the Garden Room Restaurant, allowing visitors to savour the robust tastes of a conventional Sunday roast alongside the refined charm of traditional afternoon tea.

The thoughtfully assembled menu combines savoury classics and luxurious desserts, delivering an ideal dining occasion for a leisurely Sunday get-together with relatives at the historic 12th-century establishment.

Patrons can anticipate inventive creations such as a duck fat roast potato truffle, Yorkshire pudding loaded with roasted beef and creamed horseradish, and a chicken and stuffing sandwich. The savoury options additionally include maple glazed chipolata, cauliflower cheese gratin, and lemon and thyme roast chicken.

Those craving something sweet will discover traditional puddings like sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, apple crumble, and freshly baked mature cheddar scones, all accompanied by loose leaf teas.

Coombe Abbey Hotel maintains its standard Afternoon Teas from Wednesday through Sunday, featuring an assortment of sandwiches, specialty teas, a piece of cake, and fruit scones.

Ron Terry, Group Operations Director at No Ordinary Hospitality, which oversees Coombe Abbey Hotel, explained that the concept brings together the finest elements of both culinary traditions.

He noted that the goal was to create something that feels both familiar and slightly special by blending the comfort of a traditional Sunday lunch with the unique experience of afternoon tea, which continues to be one of their most popular offerings throughout the week. He added that it makes for a truly lovely way to spend a Sunday, whether catching up with friends or enjoying time with family, and the response since introduction has been wonderful. He mentioned that afternoon tea remains extremely popular at Coombe Abbey Hotel where over 40,000 are served each year, so adding a seasonal Sunday version felt like a natural step forward.

The Sunday Roast Inspired Afternoon Tea will operate across four time slots from 12:15pm until 3pm, costing £45 per person, with advance bookings strongly advised due to significant demand.
