A fresh dining establishment has launched in Coventry, serving what can only be described as an extraordinarily large pizza. The Fat Pizza began welcoming customers after opening on Bell Green Road last week.
The venue belongs to a broader restaurant group with branches throughout the country – one of their notable achievements is providing the biggest pizza available in the UK.
Naturally such a claim warranted testing, so CoventryLive visited the premises to experience what was on offer.
The shop features attractive presentation and tasteful decoration in the brand’s signature colours, with seating available for those wishing to dine in. The reviewer had placed an order through the app earlier that day and arrived at the scheduled time, though still needed to wait approximately ten minutes for collection.
This caused little inconvenience given the reviewer was not pressed for time, and considering the business had only been operating for a few days, this was viewed as typical early-stage adjustments.
An order was placed for the XXXL 24-inch pizza at £30.99, split with half being The Beast and the remaining half pepperoni. Additional items included Cheese and BBQ loaded fries priced at £6.99, garlic parmesan wings at £7.99, and BBQ chicken chunks at £8.99. As it was the inaugural order through the app, a complimentary medium pizza was received.
Anticipation was high regarding the pizza’s dimensions, yet nothing prepared the reviewer for the moment staff placed it on the counter. The box was undeniably enormous. Fortunately, assistance was on hand in the form of two children.
Transporting it to the vehicle must have presented an unusual spectacle, with numerous passersby doing double takes. With three individuals each gripping a section of the box, the experience resembled moving flatpack furniture. Fortuitously, as a larger family requiring a people carrier for transportation, the back seats could be folded down to accommodate the sizeable box lying flat.
Upon arriving home, hunger took over and the family tucked in.
The Beast proved to be a meaty treat packed with flavour. The components appeared to be of decent quality and the pizza base was enjoyable and competently made. Due to its considerable size, each portion essentially constituted a meal on its own, and consumption presented its own challenges.

Holding a slice that drooped in one’s hand like a large tongue proved genuinely daunting. Despite this, the pizza was thoroughly enjoyable.
The Fat Pizza offers superior quality pies compared to your typical chicken shop or high street fast food outlet where the food tastes significantly better after consuming alcohol. However, it does not quite reach the standard of Domino’s or Pizza Hut – it sits at a similar level to Snappy Tomato Pizza.
Like any venue focusing on pizza, the supplementary items seemed somewhat secondary – they certainly were not unpleasant in taste, but the presentation fell short, the portions were rather meagre and the overall delivery was unconvincing. They were also fairly expensive, which represented the sole genuine letdown.
The pizza itself was flavoursome and the XXXL portion was absolutely sufficient for a family of six, as in this case. Indeed, substantial remnants remained, which were stored in the refrigerator for consumption the following day.
