Stockingford Maintained Nursery School in Nuneaton has announced it will be expanding its services alongside renovations to its premises. The school intends to grow its provision for children aged two.

This expansion comes after the nursery secured funding through the Department for Education’s School-Based Nursery Grant programme. The setting, which has served the local community since 1942, provides education and care for youngsters between two and four years old.

The funding will allow the nursery to redesign its current site on St Pauls Road, making space for additional two-year-old placements, including options for 30-hour places.

The new provision is scheduled to begin in April 2027.

Headteacher Katherine King commented that the school takes pride in delivering excellent education and care to Stockingford families, having supported the area for more than 80 years. She noted that following the successful grant application, the school is delighted to have been chosen to extend its services, describing it as a wonderful chance to reconfigure the current building to provide extra two-year-old places, including 30-hour options, to serve the local community. She added that the school’s core principles are nurturing, inspiring and developing children, and she is glad these can continue for future generations in Stockingford.

Regarding the government funding, Nuneaton MP Jodie Gosling observed that Stockingford Nursery School already delivers high-quality education that boosts development and sets ambitious goals for every child. She said this investment would enable the nursery to keep nurturing and inspiring young people in Nuneaton. She pointed out that expanding access to quality early education gives children the best possible beginning and assists parents who need reliable, affordable childcare. She expressed her satisfaction that funding is reaching settings like Stockingford, where it will create genuine and lasting benefits.
