The presenter halted her BBC programme to bring together the Coventry funnyman with some of the young people he once taught in the city.

Claudia Winkleman returned with the second installment of her fresh BBC conversation programme on Saturday evening and brought some former Coventry pupils onto the stage to amaze one of her celebrity visitors.

The Traitors participant arranged an emotional encounter between comic and performer Guz Khan, who worked as an educator before moving into television, and several of his previous students at Grace Academy in Coventry.

Guz, who continues to reside in the city, was clearly emotional when two now-adult pupils were beckoned from the crowd to join him on stage and shared enthusiastic accounts of how he had motivated them.

Simran, aged 25, mentioned that the Mr Khan viewers see on television mirrors exactly who he was at school. She recalled her first lesson with him when he called her over thinking she was in trouble, but he simply needed help clicking to the next slide during a presentation. She noted she had been quite reserved before having him as her teacher, describing him as having an entertaining uncle-like quality that helped her feel at ease and gradually build self-assurance. Even after his departure, witnessing his career path motivated her to explore different opportunities. Coming from Coventry with a South Asian background meant creative pursuits were not always encouraged, yet she pursued university, earned an art degree, and felt Guz Khan had played a significant role in that journey.

Another former pupil also expressed admiration, noting how Guz Khan inspired confidence in their entire class to pursue diverse ambitions. The experience highlighted the potential for achievement emerging from unexpected places, particularly Coventry, where the community strongly supports and celebrates his accomplishments.

Guz Khan appeared on the BBC programme to discuss his upcoming project, a series featuring Riz Ahmed as a protagonist whose life dramatically shifts following a pivotal James Bond audition experience. The six-episode season will debut globally on Prime Video in March 2026.
